Chair

The Chair oversees the operation of Amnesty in Cambridge. With the committee, the Chair ensures the smooth and productive operation of college letter writing groups, organising regular events such as the termly Cage, raising money and the larger campaigns on specific issues.

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for all of CUAI’s communications. This involves writing the weekly university bulletins, maintaining and updating the college and university mailing lists, managing the Exec meeting agenda and recording the minutes for all meetings. If you have any general queries, would like to be added to your college Amnesty mailing list or would like to include anything in our Amnesty bulletin then the Secretary is the person to contact.

Treasurer

The Treasurer manages CUAI’s finances. This involves keeping a constant eye on our budget, ensuring we spend little and fundraise lots! CUAI makes an annual donation to Amnesty UK at the beginning of Easter term. This donation is taken from any money left over from our yearly administrative costs such as letter writing materials, postage and resources used for stalls and events. The Treasurer aims to increase our donation year on year whilst making sure we have plenty left over to support the volume of letters we send out every week.

College Rep Support Officer

This person is responsible for choosing and sending out CUAI’s weekly Urgent Actions and co-ordinates the team of college representatives around the university who lead letter writing meetings in each college. General Members

The Exec runs one or two big campaigns each academic year – the General Members are involved in the planning and implementation of these. The Members contribute everything from ideas for events to creating the posters to recruiting volunteers and generally ensure that the great CUAI is well oiled and running efficiently.

Webmaster

Typically, one member of the Exec is appointed Webmaster. However, this year, we have outsourced the fabulous skills of a non-Execer to create a new website for us. Tom helped us hugely when he created a brand new website for the Amnesty fashion show last year and he kindly agreed to help us with our main website this time. We will in future years return to including a Webmaster on the Exec.
